Grandma Eva was one of the greatest strengths in my life and one of the greatest loves of my life. She will always be a hero and a woman I strive to be like. When I was broken she was there, and when she lost her son, I was thankful that I could be there for her. For one time in our shared story, I got to be her strength. I sat next to her at my uncles funeral he was only 53, he died on my sons 3rd birthday. She apologized for crying. I said “Grandma, it doesn’t matter if they’re 3 or 53, they’ll always be your babies.” It was just a moment, one only we shared, that will forever be carried in my heart. I love you Grandma. Thank you for all the love you gave, for the cookies, the cakes, the listening to me and Holly
singing “Island in the Stream” and humoring us no matter what. I love you, I know you’re with Grandpa and all the boys. Because of you, I am a better human!

Grandma Eva was the sweetest woman I’ve ever known despite many difficult experiences she had during her lifetime. I haven’t seen her in a long time because of the distance between us and she wouldn’t have even remembered me if I had. It’s heartbreaking she lived the last few years of her life with few memories of who she was and the family that cherished her. May she rest in peace with the love of her life, my Grandpa Jim, her two sons who went before her, and all those she’s been longing to reconnect with whether she remembered or not. Love you forever, Grandma.

Grandma Eve and I spent so much of my childhood together and were so close. We share a middle name after all! I stayed the night with her at least once a week. We baked together, watched our favorite TV shows together, ran errands together, did puzzles together and anything else our hearts desired. I would tell Grandma Eve a bedtime story every night we spent together, and even though I probably only knew two or three, she let me tell her Little Red Ridding Hood and The Three Little Pigs over and over and over again. I love you so much Grandma Eve!!!!
